ANDO MEDIA TEAMS WITH FRAUNHOFERThursday, June 14, 2007 Providence, RI- Thursday, June 14, 2007- Ando Media, a radio ad inventory management and measurement company announced today that it teamed with the German Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS and now supports "true" high definition surround sound streaming through the use of its proprietary processing systems and the mp3 Surround format developed by Fraunhofer. Ando’s Ad Injector product has been used to manage inventory on HD2 stations for sometime but it has been limited to broadcasting high-bit rate streams in stereo. "True" HD streaming requires 5.1 or 7.1 channels, to date there are currently only a handful of Internet stations broadcasting in 5.1 / 7.1 surround sound. "By enhancing native software libraries, and in conjunction with Fraunhofer IIS we are able to support as many audio channels as the sound device has available for both input and output. The solution is compatible with both physical as well as virtual audio hardware." states Brian Burrows, Ando’s Chief Scientist. "Rather than requiring drivers to work in HD mode, we designed software around existing standardized driver technology, giving it the widest selection of compatible audio hardware. Clients using the WinAmp Plug-in available from Fraunhofer, can all receive content in true HD surround sound." The first generation of Ad Injector with HD 5.1/7.1 is available from Ando today. mp3 Surround enables transmission and playback of 5.1 surround music at data rates comparable to those used for standard stereo mp3 files, while preserving backward compatibility to all current mp3 playback devices. This makes mp3 Surround the format of choice for upgrading any stereo mp3 Internet radio service to 5.1 multi-channel sound. Further information on mp3 Surround can be found at www.mp3surround.com. About Ando Media Ando currently numbers it's clients at over 1,700 internet radio stations (as of 1/20/2007) and includes many of the largest terrestrial broadcasting companies and Internet only brands as well.
